Combe St Nicholas Primary School

Our Mission Statement

We are committed to providing a happy and stimulating learning environment for all our children. We aim to develop each child's full potential in a safe school community, where they are valued as young people. Our aim is to develop the whole child in a positive atmosphere, where courtesy, care, consideration and respect for each other are as important as academic and spiritual development.

Combe St Nicholas Primary School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School (C of E VA) for pupils between 4 and 11 years. It serves a wide catchment area and is situated in the middle of the village of Combe St Nicholas, just over two miles from Chard.

As a Voluntary Aided (VA) school the governing body has to find 10% of all capital costs. Originally that money would have come from the Diocese of Bath and Wells. The VA status provides the school governors some autonomy in respect of budgeting and admissions.

The school has four classrooms, a computer suite, library, small groups room, toilets and cloakroom facility, school offices, medical room, kitchen, staff room and resources room. It is housed on two floors, with one of the classrooms situated in an adjacent new building, which is very well equipped and heated, with its own toilet facilities. The School also has a playground with activity equipment and extensive playing fields, within an easy walk of the School premises.
