Sunday School Wood

The Sunday School Wood is situated in the heart of the village of Combe St. Nicholas. It is a one acre community nature reserve located next to St. Nicholas Church. It can be entered from the churchyard near the church tower. There is a path and steps that lead to Green Lane and out to Combe Wood.

The Wood was formerly part of the Vicarage garden. In 1995 a number of trees, in addition to the mature trees at the north end, were planted by the Sunday School children, parents and helpers. Much of the Wood became overgrown but was cleared in 2003. Since then approximately 500 shrubs, wild flowers and 5000 bulbs have been planted, bird and bat boxes erected and the Wood regularly maintained.

If you would like to make a donation or join our Tuesday morning team of volunteers to maintain the Wood or join the Friends of the Wood, contact Frank Warriner on 01460 67407 or by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
