The Isle Group

This group was formed over thirty years ago, as a friendship group for women in the village of Wadeford and surrounding hamlets. The group’s name derives from the River Isle flowing through the village, with its source on the lane to Scrapton. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at Wadeford Manor, Wadeford, starting with brief business matters for the group, followed by a speaker or entertainment and then coffee.

Topics over the last two years have included bee keeping, cheese tasting, water divining, belly dancing and a local butcher’s reminiscences. All Isle Group gatherings are informal and friendly, allowing members the chance to get to know others from the village. Husbands and partners of group members have recently formed a separate men’s supper club, but are also included in some activities and celebrations. The group is well known for its charity fundraising.
