Public time
-. a) Andy Treble and 5 Youth members of the Parish gave a short
presentation requesting a skate park facility as - they
are now older than allowed on the play equipment – they cause
dismay to drivers if using the road – and it would be a place to
socialise. . The design structure shown would be fixed down, but
could also be removed at any time Full costing plan will be
available for next meeting. It would be used for approx 5 – 12
people on a regular basis plus the current younger children in
future years. They suggest the bottom corner of Combe Wood
Recreation Field, with screening of planting or fencing, etc. to
help alleviate any noise Signs would be put up stating for over
12 years olds only. The Youth Club members would ensure it is
kept in good condition. The ongoing maintenance costs would be
part of the financial plan. Extra insurance costs would be
involved. It will be considered at the next meeting when more
details are to hand.
b) P.C.S.O.Gareth Allington gave a
report regarding some burglaries of lead, bicycles, and
plants that occurred during the weekend of 17/18 July. They are
awaiting forensic results, More patrols arranged, and residents
should take precautions, especially as scrap metal prices are
high at the moment. Report even the smallest incident which
could add to the overall picture, as this type of crime is
Countywide.
Louise Cowl is the new beat Officer for
this area. Gareth was thanked for attending.

28/11 SCHOOL CAR PARK
A meeting was held with Sue Freeston,
Chair of School Governors, regarding the proposed re-surfacing
of the School car parking area. 18 months ago a plastic grid was
put down on top of the grass area, but it has not worked as part
of the land has sunk and some plastic broken.
Quote obtained by Governors is for
underpinning with rubble and gravel. Another covering has been
suggested (4” stone and 4” of recycled road tarmac) which is
much harder wearing to be placed in central area, using current
plastic mat for actual parking, Size of replacement area – 8 mtr
x 23 mtr.
Work may be able to be carried out
during the School holidays. Staff should use this new facility
with wheeled carrier if necessary for heavy bags, etc. It was
proposed and resolved to give financial help by means of Section
137 scheme to the school (vat can be refunded) A new quote to be
obtained by the Parish Council currently estimated at £1662 +
£332 vat = £1994
